A NEW DAWN IN AFRICA

Africa is a continent that is blessed in every sense of the word. The continent has survived all forms of exploitation, yet she has survived all evils targeted against her and what she represents. Democracy is a form of government that Africans have come to embrace. Dictatorship and other vices associate d with it are fast going into extinction

. The willed of the people is now the sole deciding norms. People now are more enlightened about issues that concern them all over the continent. The voice of the youth is becoming louder.

Military dictators have long held sway in post Independence African nations, civilian dictators are still very much around and alive...but the thing that bring joy into my heart is the trend that the youth have taken. A classical case is the Nigerian movement.

The youth by whatever means have certainly realize that either they keep quiet and mortgage their destiny and that of their yet unborn children and subsequent generations yet unborn or they stop the trend through the ballot.

Ghana surprises other African countries when she conducted an election that shows that Africans can conduct their affairs just like every other civilized people elsewhere. This to me is something that will live on for a long time. Democracy has come to stay in Africa.

SUSTAINABILITY:

All hands must be on deck to protect this new found system of government all over the continent. The AU should arise from its slumber and begins to give the continental mandate the attention it deserves. The AU to me is more like a dead lion.

The truth is the continental body is ineffective and often times not well coordinated on it duties. AU should borrow a leaf from the EU on how to engage on continental affairs. With Ghana and Nigeria building more vibrant and strong political institution, other African countries should join the queue.

HIGH STAKES

The stakes are high; Democracy is more people friendly than every other system of government. The concept is people based, not class based.

The goal is towards improvement in the live of the citizens irrespective of their status in the society taking cognizance of the fact that the poor if not properly insulated will be subject to impoverishment from the high class. That’s why the masses will always go for it anywhere it is being practice.

Humans, love recognition and the ego factor Is in every one. The benefit is enormous, the collective willed of the people will make things easier, and tings get done faster because everyone knows they have stakes.

PERFECTING IT

Naturally, every system has its flaws. Democracy has fewer flaws comparatively. That’s why the system is everyone’s choice. The Giant in the sun has finally live up to expectation, proving pundits wrong.

Things are taking shapes and there is a renewed enthusiasm to get things to work out right this time around. All eyes are still on Nigeria, and she will not disappoint. With these the era of Military and civilian dictator are over, because the people have tested democracy and found that it is sweet.

SOUTH AFRICA AND NIGERIA

South Africa has been enjoying democracy since 1994 till date and other countries in the region are taking a cue from this. In the same manner Nigeria got started in 1999, all over the continents this is the new system of public administration with only few exceptions. The changing tide did not come on a platter of gold.

HEROES AND MARTYRS

Many have lost their lives in other to take power back to the people the good thing that the willed of the people has prevailed.
